Moscow supports the demand of the UN secretary-general to investigate the deaths of civilians in the Gaza Strip during the “March of Return”, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday. It stressed that the total number of killed Palestinians in the past two weeks of mass protests reached 30 people. The ministry described indiscriminate use of force against civilians as “absolutely unacceptable” and reiterated its call for Israelis and Palestinians to refrain from steps that could provoke further the growth of dangerous tensions. Russia believes that the deep cause of periodic outbursts of confrontation and violence remains the absence of any progress in the long-term and just Palestinian-Israeli settlement.
