5 killed as suburban train collides with van in Crimea

Five people died and seven others were injured when a suburban train collided with a fixed-route taxi-van near the town of Armyansk in Russia’s Crimea on Sunday, police have confirmed. According to medics, a child was among those injured. The authorities said that the railroad crossing where the tragedy occurred was equipped with sound and light warning systems, which were in working order. The accident is currently being investigated. A police source told Interfax that the driver, who died in the crash, may have fallen asleep at the wheel or lost control of the vehicle due to sudden illness.
