Russian cybersecurity firm Kaspersky Lab has challenged the ban on its products by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in federal court. In September the DHS ordered all government agencies to “develop plans to remove” all “information security products, solutions, and services” produced by Kaspersky Lab due to security risks posed to the federal information systems. Underlining that US authorities have not provided “any evidence of wrongdoing” by the company, the Russian cybersecurity firm on Monday went on to stress that the “DHS’s decision is unconstitutional” and was based purely on “subjective, non-technical public sources.” Furthermore, Kaspersky accused the US authorities of inflicting “undue damage” to the company’s reputation and its sales in the US. “In filing this appeal, Kaspersky Lab hopes to protect its due process rights under the US Constitution and federal law and repair the harm caused to its commercial operations, its US-based employees, and its US-based business partners,” the company said in a statement.
