Russian and Egyptian officials have signed documents to allow the resumption of direct flights between the two countries after a two-year break, Sputnik said on Friday. The air traffic will resume on February 1, 2018, according to the report. Flights between Russia and Egypt were suspended after a Russian passenger plane crashed over the Sinai peninsula, killing all 224 people on board, and Russia categorized the incident as a terrorist attack. Moscow and Cairo will also discuss the resumption of charter flights in April, 2018, according to the Egyptian aviation minister. Russian Transportation Minister Maksim Sokolov said earlier on Friday that the resumption of direct flights would be possible only after a decree by the Russian president.
