Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) was hospitalized Wednesday at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC, due to side effects from undergoing therapy to treat brain cancer. He was diagnosed in July. “As ever, he remains grateful to his physicians for their excellent care, and his friends and supporters for their encouragement and good wishes. Senator McCain looks forward to returning to work as soon as possible,” a statement from McCain’s office read. McCain has been treated with radiation and chemotherapy since being diagnosed with an aggressive cancerous brain tumor called a primary glioblastoma. Before he was aware of the cancer, the senator underwent surgery to remove a blood clot in Phoenix, Arizona. Lab results from that surgery later revealed the blood clot was related to the brain cancer.
