At least 12 people, including eight men and four women, have been killed in a suicide bombing at a market in northeast Nigeria. Community leader Aliyu Idrisa told Reuters that the terrorists struck the market in Biu, in Borno state, as aid workers were handing out food to people affected by the conflict with Islamist group Boko Haram. Speaking on condition of anonymity, another government official told the agency that 15 people are dead and another 47 injured. Boko Haram, whose name means “Western education is forbidden” and which has been fighting the Nigerian state since 2009, is suspected to be behind the blast.
