North Korea’s “absolutely unacceptable” ballistic and nuclear tests threaten not only neighboring nations, such as South Korea and Japan, but also Russia, other European countries and the entire international community, Japanese foreign minister Taro Kono told TASS. “It’s essential to de-nuclearize the Korean peninsula,” he said, noting it is a goal shared by both Tokyo and Moscow, as well as South Korea, the US and China. To reach it, the UN members need to fulfill “thoroughly and completely” the Security Council sanctions resolutions against North Korea, he added. “It is necessary to force North Korea to give up its missile and nuclear programs,” Kono said, adding that authorities in Pyongyang “have to realize there is no bright future ahead of them.”
