Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has sent specialists from the 328th expedition search and rescue unit of the Navy to search for the missing Argentine ‘San Juan’ submarine, TASS reported on Thursday. On the order of President Vladimir Putin, the minister also held a phone conversation with his Argentine counterpart. Shoigu issued orders to immediately send a mobile group of specialists to Argentina’s coast by military transport plane. They are traveling with the ‘Pantera Plus,’ an air-transportable, remote-controlled submersible, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The ‘Yantar’ oceanographic vessel, which is equipped with two deep-submergence vehicles, has also been deployed to the search area.
