French President Emmanuel Macron has invited Hassan Rouhani to take part in a climate conference in Paris next month, according to the website of the Iranian president. Tensions between Iran and France increased last week after Macron said that Tehran should be less aggressive in the region, Reuters reports. He also urged Tehran to clarify its ballistic missile program. The two presidents reportedly spoke by a phone Tuesday. Rouhani was quoted by Iranian state media as telling Macron that France can play a productive role in the Middle East by having a “realistic and impartial approach.”
