The ongoing violence in the Middle East has sparked international condemnation. Demonstrations took place in many U.S. cities, including Washington.
Americans, Palestinians and even Israeli citizens went onto the streets to say ‘no’ to violence. “I think everyone in the U.S. should come and protest, because what is happening back in Gaza is crazy. I think every capital in the world should be on their feet and scream: ‘Stop the killing!’ Violence will not get the Israeli government anywhere,” said one of the protesters, who was born in Russia but now lives in Israel. In Paris, several thousand people took to the streets to demonstrate. Many held Palestinian flags and posters vilifying the ongoing violence. The rally coincided with a meeting of EU foreign ministers at the French Foreign Ministry.And in Iran, student protestors reportedly forced their way into a British embassy residence in the capital, Tehran. Iranian news agency sources said the protesters stormed the building and hoisted a Palestinian flag at the entrance. They accuse Britain of supporting Israel's actions in Gaza.
