War criminals should be tried – Georgian ambassador

Those responsible for starting the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict should be tried in court. That’s according to Erosi Kitsmarishvili, Georgia's former Ambassador to Russia, who spoke exclusively to RT after giving evidence to a Georgian parliamentary co

“I am interested to see what Georgian society will demand. I think first of all, we need to discover the causes of this conflict. And I think that Georgia, first of all, should condemn the actions of those responsible, inside the country,” Kitsmarishvili said. “If this is Saakashvili and his decision, he should be tried in court. And again, it should be for the Georgian people to decide what kind of court. If we fail to do so, we will never be able to face the Abkhazians and Ossetians and tell them that we want to live in the same ‘house’ with them, and offer them one state,” he added. Earlier, Kitsmarishvili accused his own country of starting the war in South Ossetia. His comments almost led to a fistfight between politicians.
