Violence continues in Iraq

Iraqi police have been targeted in a wave of violence across the country. 14 people were killed when gunmen attacked the house of a senior official in the city of Baquba.

The victims included the official’s wife and his five children were kidnapped.  The man wasn't at home at the time. Meanwhile, six police officers have been killed after two suicide bomb blasts in the north and west of Iraq. Elsewhere, two explosions in the southern Iraqi town of Qurna have claimed the lives of at least 16 civilians.
