U.S. fuels Kosovo dispute: Russian FM

The United States is attempting to make Kosovo independent by continuously repeating that it is inevitable, according to Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

It comes as talks between Belgrade and Pristina remain deadlocked at the final round of negotiations in the Austrian town of Baden. Serbian and Kosovo's Albanian leaders have clashed over the province's status before even sitting down for the final talks before the UN deadline. They're meeting with delegations from Russia, the U.S. and the EU, known as the Troika, in Austria. Kosovo's Albanian leaders have once again pushed for full independence. Serbia's Prime Minister, Vojislav Kostunica, said Serbia will not let an inch of its territory be taken away. For its part, the United States supports the idea of independence, while the EU says it's in favour of a compromise. Russia, which backs Serbia, says it sees no chance of a breakthrough and says it will insist on the extension of talks beyond the December 10 deadline. RT correspondent Anastasia Churkina asked Russia's Troika envoy Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko about possible outcome of the talks.
