Three UN police officers and two NATO soldiers have been wounded during an explosion in the flashpoint city of Mitrovica in Kosovo. There have been heavy clashes with Serb protesters, exactly one month since Kosovo unilaterally declared independence.

Demonstrators have also attacked a UN convoy carrying detainees arrested during a raid in Kosovo. Earlier on Monday thousands of Serbs gathered near the courthouse in Kosovska Mitrovica and clashed with riot police backed up by NATO troops. Police stormed the building, forcibly retaking it from Serbs who had occupied it three days ago, as a protest against Kosovo's independence. Meanwhile, UN police forces have been reportedly ordered out of Northern Kosovo following violent clashes with Serbs.
