UN mission to Serbia to tackle Kosovo problem

The UN is sending a mission to Belgrade and Pristina to examine the situation in the region. One of its first talks will be on the progress of Resolution 1244, which calles for “substantial autonomy” for Kosovo.

The delegation will also try and get clarification from the Serbian government and temporary self-governing bodies in Kosovo on the status of ethnic minorities.Russia insists that a final decision on the status of Kosovo must be acceptable to all parties including the Serbians.
