More than a thousand people have taken to the streets of Kiev for an anti-NATO rally. The protesters included members of the Ukrainian “Orthodox Brotherhood”, a military unit of the “Cossacks”, as well as some public organisations.

Carrying flags and icons, the demonstrators marched through the centre of the capital to voice their objection to Ukraine's plan to join the North Atlantic alliance. Organisers are calling on Ukrainian officials to drop their entry request to join NATO before next month’s summit in Bucharest.
