The bodies of 20 beheaded men have been discovered dumped along the banks of the Tigris River in a village south of Baghdad. All the victims, aged between 20 and 40, had their hands and legs bound.

Also in Iraq, at least 25 people have been killed and another 40 wounded in a car bomb attack in Baghdad. The bomb, stashed in a parked vehicle, exploded during the morning rush hour at a busy bus station. At least 40 transport vehicles were set alight by the blast. In a separate incident, three British soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb near Basra in southern Iraq. A fourth soldier was wounded in the attack and taken to a military hospital.   The deaths raise the number of British troops killed in Iraq since March 2003 to at least 154.
