Turkish court sentences 7 to life in prison for Istanbul bombings

A Turkish court has sentenced 7 men, including several members of Al-Qaeda, to life in prison for the 2003 Istanbul bombings, when 58 people were killed and more than 600 others were wounded.

The defendants were among 74 suspects standing trial for their alleged involvement in the attacks on November 15 and 20.The court acquitted 26 of them while sentencing the rest to prison terms of varying lengths.The Istanbul bombings in 2003 targeted 2 synagogues, the British consulate and a branch of the HSBC bank.
