Armenia is not so well-known worldwide. But this Caucasian country it is distinguished for maintaining good relations with all world nations – with two notable exceptions.
The country has a frozen conflict with its neighbour Azerbaijan over its Armenian-populated breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh. And it has no diplomatic relations with Turkey, as the two are divided over the mass killing of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire back in 1915. Will the tension over Nagorno-Karabakh intensify now that Kosovo’s declaration of independence has been recognised by many countries? Will the hatred between Armenians and Turks ever be buried?
