`Troika` to have another go at reaching Kosovo compromise

Established in July to mediate during renewed Kosovo talks between Belgrade and Pristina, the Troika comprises Russia, the EU and the United States. Earlier, internationally-mediated discussions on the region's status resulted in no compromise, with its ethnic Albanian majority seeking independence, while Serbia insists it remains part of the country. The province has been a UN protectorate since 1999. Direct talks on the issue are scheduled for late September.
