An Estonian court has resumed hearing the case against the organisers of protests against the removal of the Bronze Soldier monument.
Violent demonstrations by the Russian-speaking population followed the government's decision to rebury the remains of Soviet soldiers and relocate the memorial to a war cemetery. Many Russians thought the reburial was a mark of disrespect. The organisers of the protest have been charged with public unrest which injured a number of policemen and caused major damage in the capital city, Tallinn. The activists could face up to five years in prison if convicted.
