Residents in a St. Petersburg suburb were shocked to witness the rare sight of a strong tornado.

Witnesses say a strong wind lifted a car three meters into the air, Fontanka.ru news source reported.

The tornado turned the vehicle over a fence of a parking lot causing it to smash into the other cars. As a result of the incident, six cars and electrical power lines were damaged. No people were injured.

The violent wind was caused by a thunderstorm and lasted around five minutes.

Meteorologists say there is nothing supernatural about it, and such natural effects commonly emerge after a sharp change in temperature.
