'Time and People': Black-and-white photography exhibition in Moscow

Despite rainy weather, an art exhibition by the Russian master of photography, Sergey Borisov, is drawing in hundreds of art lovers to the 'Manezh' Central Exhibition Hall. It is all about the combination of black and white.

Sergey Borisov's photographs are eye-catching and revealing. They show images worth a thousand words and capture key changes of the country and people.   Throughout a career that has spanned almost 40 years, Sergey Borisov has taken pictures of some of Russia's most talented artists of the epoch. Some people are good at managing their time, others are good at managing people. But it seems like Sergey Borisov can do both. He believes that a good photographer is a good psychologist.   Sergey Borisov says what makes an image strong is more than just technical know-how or professional experience.      “Time for a photographer plays a significant role, it's vital. I've got my own theory that each picture has to stand the test of time. It's a real pleasure to look at the picture you shot yesterday the next day, maybe from a different perspective,” he said.   Now that black and white photos are coming back into fashion, Borisov's pictures are especially popular with young people.   Seeking to look beyond the surface, most of these pictures have already withstood the test of time.   And time will tell if there's anything more timeless than the combination of black and white…
