Elena Tishchenko from the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Sverdlovsk region says the situation is now under control. “A group of inmates tried to get over the main barrier. They were from about 14 to 18 years old. To stop them, security guards fired warning shots. One inmate was shot dead. After the escape failed, the inmates started a fire. Special forces were called to the site. Guards only used batons. Six prison workers and six inmates were injured. All of them have been treated by medics. The situation is now under control, the fire was extinguished. The prosecutor of the region is at the site of the incident,” she commented.
