A soldier has been killed and five people injured in three separate explosions in the Russian republic of Chechnya.

The Russian serviceman died in a roadside bomb blast in central Chechnya, injuring two others. In a separate attack, a combat engineer was wounded when a device detonated in the south-east of the republic. In a third incident, two civilians were hurt when a bomb went off in the capital, Grozny. It happened at a checkpoint outside the parliament building at about 4pm Moscow time. Police say a small device was left in a rubbish bin and did not damage the nearby government office.
