Deadly road smash-up: Truck veers out of control as brakes fail (VIDEO)

Two people have been killed and ten others injured in a smash-up in Russia’s Urals as a heavy truck rammed into four vehicles when its brakes failed. The driver responsible miraculously escaped from the burning cab.

The crash took place on a highway outside the city of Chelyabinsk. The driver of the Volvo truck lost control of his vehicle and careered onto the wrong side of the road, colliding with two cars, a van and a KAMAZ truck. A massive blaze broke out – drivers of nearby vehicles tried to put out the inferno with fire extinguishers.The Volvo truck driver nimbly jumps out of the wreck at the end – physically unharmed but badly shaken after the horrific crash. The man reportedly tried to escape from the scene, but was later detained by authorities.Ten people have been rushed to hospital, some in grave condition, officials say. There are three underage people among the injured, two are in hospital with serious brain injuries and one with a broken hip.A dashboard camera in one of the cars travelling in the opposite direction recorded the entire incident.
