A brand-new ice-breaker has been launched from the ‘Baltiysky Zavod’ shipyard in St.Petersburg. It bears the name of Russia's northern capital and will be in service by the end of the year.

The multi-functional diesel-powered icebreaker is only the second of its kind built in the country in more than three decades. The powerful boat is fully equipped for rescue work, and will be used in the Gulf of Finland.
