Emergency humanitarian aid from Russia and other countries continues to arrive in the Russian city of Vladikavkaz in North Ossetia, which is the main destination for South Ossetian refugees. Hospitals are also taking in the wounded.
Kazakhstan has also sent a convoy with construction supplies, and Belarus is sending 60 tonnes of food to the region. Greece and Denmark are giving financial aid to the region, while the Swiss agency for Development and Cooperation has sent medical equipment and children’s clothing. Many international humanitarian organisations have also expressed their willingness to participate in this process, including UNHCR (United Nations High Commission for Refugees), whichhas sent 30 tonnes of humanitarian aid. Moscow Red Cross also wants to participate by sending doctors and mobile hospitals to South Ossetia.
