Somali pirates back from the future

Somali pirates have released a Danish vessel and its crew, which included eleven Russian citizens. The cargo ship, called CEC ‘Future’, was hijacked in the Gulf of Aden in November of last year.

The ship's owner said the pirates freed the boat after a ransom was parachuted in earlier this week.

The company declined to specify the amount, fearing it would influence negotiations over other hijackings in the region.

For more comments on the release RT reached the shipping company over the phone.

“Early this morning at four o'clock GMT the vessel was finally released. We are now hopefully going to be under the escort of a Russian navy vessel all the way up to the port of Solala in the country of Oman. The crew feels very well. The captain and the crew of the ship have performed the call of duty, they have been very, very calm,” said Per Gullestrup, ship's owning company Clipper Group representative.
