Six Russian tourists are missing in the north-west of China. The team of Russian rafters were exploring mountain rivers near the city of Hogan.

They disappeared after losing contact with their interpreter. An emergency rescue team has been put together and the Russian embassy has asked for a helicopter to help with the search. “The rescuers are still looking for the missing Russian tourists. On Thursday the Russian Embassy in Beijing asked the Russian Canoe and Kayak Federation to find out where the Russian tourists are. They started their trip on August 20 and were meant to finish September 2. On that day however they failed to meet their guide at the agreed place,” Alexandr Isaev, Russian Embassy in China Press secretary, commented.
