Fishermen in the Russian city of St. Petersburg were surprised having caught a shark in the River Neva, as sharks are not native to this region. The 2-meter-long predator was first spotted in the Gulf of Finland close to the city.

The creature has now been handed over to Saint Petersburg's university for tests. Specialists still have to find out how it managed to reach fresh water.Visitors will have a chance to see the shark at the city’s fish festival.
