Russia and Brazil are to jointly develop a fifth-generation fighter jet. The two countries also plan to build space rocket vehicles.

An agreement was signed on Tuesday according to the Brazilian Minister of Strategic Affairs, Roberto Mangabeira Unger. Currently only the U.S. produces similar military aircraft, although several other countries have the capabilities. The maiden flight of Russia’s first fifth-generation fighter, developed by the Sukhoi design bureau, is expected to take place next year.
