Fighting broke out on Wednesday and soon led to Hezbollah taking over the predominantly Muslim part of the Lebanese capital. It followed the government's decision to close down Hezbollah's telephone network claiming it was illegal. Violence claimed the lives of around forty people. At present the situation seems to be taken under control. On Saturday, Hezbollah promised to end its armed presence in Beirut after a deal with the Lebanese Army. All the Russian citizens who have left the country are expected to be flown to Moscow later in the day. Reportedly eleven other Russians including a child have independently arrived at the Syrian border attempting to leave Lebanon.
