Ahead of the holiday season, Russian trucks have formed a 100-kilometre-long queue at the Finnish border. According to Finland's officials, the current situation is unprecedented.

The Scandinavian country has asked the European Union to make Russia increase electronic customs services and reduce border bureaucracy. Meanwhile, Russia's booming economy is driving the growth of imports and transit countries are suffering from heavy traffic. The amount of goods imported to Russia through Finland's territory has doubled in three years.
