Nikolay Davydenko has put a torrid few weeks behind him to reach the quarter-finals of the Montreal Masters.

In an all-Russian battle he defeated Mikhail Youzhny – taking the first set on a tie break and the second 6-3. The relief on Davydenko's face was plane to see. The world number four still under investigation for irregular betting patterns during his second round match at last week's Prokom Open. But he's dealing with the pressure and performing well in Canada. Meanwhile top seed Roger Federer defeated Italy's Fabio Fognini 6-1 6-1 to reach the quarters. He remains on course to meet Rafael Nadal in the final.
