A Russian flight carrying humanitarian aid has left for Myanmar following last week's devastating cyclone.
On-board are tents, blankets, generators, and medical supplies, as well as food, to help the relief effort. Meanwhile the UN has announced that it is resuming deliveries of aid to Myanmar. The organisation had halted deliveries on Friday morning after it emerged that supplies were seized by the military junta once they were unloaded in the capital Rangoon. Over 60,000 people are reported dead and more than a million have been made homeless by the disaster. Aid groups have warned that thousands of children may have been orphaned and a lack of sanitation and fresh drinking water in many areas means a medical disaster is looming.
