Boris Berezovsky temporarily fled the UK on the advice of Scotland Yard because of an alleged plot to assassinate him. Mr Berezovsky moved to the UK seven years ago and had often made allegations about being the target of Russian security services. He is considered a fierce critic of the Russian President and has recently called for a coup to overthrow Putin’s government. In Russia, Boris Berezovsky is due to go on trial in absentia on charges of embezzlement and tax evasion. He is also wanted in Brazil for alleged money laundering.
