According to Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Masorin, Russia is to start producing brand new intercontinental Bulava ballistic missiles. The decision has been taken after a series of successful tests from nuclear submarines.
Vladimir Masorin says the precise range of the intercontinental missile will be clearer after two final tests later this year. But all the data on the trial is super classified. The first boats to carry the new Bulava will be the Boreas-class submarines, particularly Yury Dolgoruki. A ground-based variant of the missile is also expected. Meanwhile, a new Russian anti-aircraft and anti-missile system is going online at the town of Elektrostal in the Moscow region. The S-400 Triumph can monitor a radius of 400 kilometers at almost any altitude. It can fight all kinds of rockets and aircrafts including those using Stealth technology. Although it looks the same as previous versions – the S-300 and S-200 – the Triumph is nearly three times as efficient. The new complex may also be used as part of the European Union's anti-missile defense system which is now being created.
