Russia's capital hosted an international 5 km race on Sunday as part of the country's "Running Day".

Runners ruled the streets of Russia’s capital, as car traffic was restricted on many of the central streets to make way for the estimated 10,000 runners.

Marathon participants ranged from celebrities to avid runners, who came to finish the 5 km ( 3 mi) run around the city center’s historic landmarks.

I want to have a good time here. But I also want to know [if I] can run 5 km,” Olesya Kachanova said, gearing up for the run.
