Russia’s Federal Security Service, the FSB, has uncovered the activities of 22 staff members and 71 agents working for foreign secret service agencies in 2007, according to Nikolay Patrushev, the FSB chief.

Speaking to chief editors in the Russian media, Patrushev also said that the number of terrorist attacks committed in the country has more than halved over the past year. “Thus, 257 terrorist acts were registered in 2005, 112 in 2006, and 41 in 2007,” he said. He also said that the FSB is actively co-operating with partners in 76 countries worldwide to bolster the country's security and to fight terrorism.
