Nearly 2,000 people have gathered in Moscow's Red Square to commemorate the 137th anniversary of Vladimir Lenin, the mastermind of the October revolution that led to the creation of the Soviet Union.

Lenin's embalmed body has been on display in a mausoleum in Red Square since his death in 1924, prompting debate about whether he should finally be buried. Opinion polls show that 52% of Russians support the idea of burial, but no final decision has yet been made.
