Russia and Moldova have agreed on the resumption of full-scale train connections between the two countries through the breakaway republic of Transdniester. They were terminated in March for security reasons.

On Friday two trains will travel from Russia to Chisinau going through northern Moldova. But on Saturday, trains will use the most direct route through the breakaway republic of Transdniester for the first time since Tiraspol blocked this section due to security concerns in March.Since then all the trains have been going through Mogilev-Podolsky, disrupting journeys for passengers and hampering the work of Russian railways.A three-way deal between Russia, Moldova and Ukraine has now resolved that dispute.
