Renewed violence in Ingushetia: 2 blasts, 1 policeman killed

Two explosions rocked Ingushetia on Friday in the town of Karabulak while the house of a police officer was fired upon in the city of Nazran. It follows the shooting of a former police officer, Timur Magushkov, on Thursday.

The Karabulak blasts happened at around 1am local time on December 5. A series of gunshots followed the blasts, local residents say, although there have not been any reports of any victims. On the same night, at around 1am Moscow time, a group of unknown gunmen fired upon the house of two police officers, brothers Urushan and Rustam Azhegov. Militants opened fire using a grenade launcher, Interfax reports. Police say there were no victims in the attack. The day before, in Nazran, unknown militants shot the former policeman Timur Magushkov. According to the press service, at the moment of the attack Magushkov was at the wheel of his brother’s official car. Magushkov’s two-year-old son was in the car when the gunmen opened fire from a nearby vehicle. Magushkov died from the wounds on the way to hospital. His son has not suffered any injuries, police said. A criminal case has been launched into the murder.
