Memorial services are to be held across Russia for the 67 people who died in the recent coal mining accident in Siberia.

Wednesday marks 40 days since their death, an important day in the Orthodox Christian tradition.

Two explosions rocked one of Russia's largest coal mines in May.

At the time of the first blast, hundreds of people were underground.

When rescue workers rushed in, the second blast struck.

As well as the 67 people who were killed, more than a hundred were injured, and 23 are still unaccounted for.

The investigation into the cause of the tragedy is ongoing.
