Rare leopards found in Russia

Seven new Amur Leopards have been discovered in Russia’s Primorsky Region. They’re incredibly rare – less than 40 are thought to be left on earth.

The discovery was possible due to special motion-activated cameras that photograph the night hunters as they approach. Amur Leopards are listed in the red list of Threatened Species with the conservation status “critically endangered”. There are several female species among the found animals, and this fact raises hopes Amur Leopards will not become totally extinct.
