Vladimir Putin has called a popular radio station and requested a song by Russian pop-diva Alla Pugacheva.

According to Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, the woman previously called a local radio and ordered a lyrical ballad for the Prime Minister.

Putin is said to have been so touched when one of his assistants told him about the move that he called the station and asked them to play a song for an unknown well-wisher in return. The song was “A Million Red Roses” by Alla Pugacheva.

The PM also wanted to know the name of the woman, but the only info the radio possessed was the town where she lives, which is Mozhaysk in the Moscow Region.

This is far from the first time that Putin has given out gifts to average people.

Last winter, a barman in a Russian ski resort was lucky enough to get Putin's ski goggles when he dropped into a cafe to have a snack.

And a few months earlier, a girl was invited to Putin's residence to get a “Cinderella” dress, which she had asked for during a question and answer session with the PM.

Also on the list of Putin's presents is his personal watch, a computer, puppies, a New Year tree and even a water supply system.
