The United Nations inquiry found that the police action to end a Serb protest was unwarranted. On March 17, an UN police unit stormed a court house which had been occupied by Kosovo Serbs, leaving one dead and dozens injured. Moscow wants the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to get involved. Russian Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin told the Security Council the Secretary General should consider disciplinary measures against the people responsible for the brutality. “There was a discussion around the table. Unfortunately, some members of the Council weren’t prepared to accept that the president of the Council should directly deliver this message of personal responsibility to the Secretary General. However, we agreed that the president of the Council will deliver the concerns, expressed during the meeting, to the Secretary General,” he said.
