Hundreds of thousands of people in Spain and Ecuador have demonstrated against a bomb attack at Madrid airport last month by Basque separatist group ETA, which killed two people and injured two dozens.
Rallies took place in the Spanish Basque city of Bilbao and Madrid itself, where protesters called for peace and held banners with anti-terrorist slogans.The marches were organised by labour federations but boycotted by the conservative opposition Popular Party, who are against the Spanish government talking with ETA.Last month's car bomb ended a nine-month ceasefire with the separatist group, although they've insisted the truce still stands.And in the Ecuadorian capital Quito dozens of protesters also took to the streets to denounce the bombing in Madrid. They carried banners, denouncing the bombing and chanting anti-war slogans.Two men from Ecuador died in the December 30 blast. They were killed as they slept in cars in the Madrid airport car park. Both men had migrated to Spain in search of work.Ecuadorians are the largest immigrant group in Spain, with an estimated 500,000 people living there legally.
