The preliminary investigation into the murder of Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya will be concluded on June 20, according to Russia's Prosecutor's Office. Investigators have also announced that a fifth suspect in the case is to be released on bail.

Politkovskaya was shot dead in her apartment building in October 2006. Nine people have been detained in connection with the killing. Prosecutors have issued an international arrest warrant for the man they believe pulled the trigger. The apparent contract killing of the journalist, known for fearless and independent reporting, sent shockwaves through Russia and beyond.
