Perm survivors must discuss tragedy, says psychotherapist

Dr. Jeannot Hoareau of the European Centre for Psychotherapy in Moscow says the best therapy for those who survived such disasters as the fire in Perm’s night club is to talk about what they’ve been through.

“Survivors usually have PTSD – post traumatic stress syndrome," Hoareau told RT. "It’s very important to those people to have the opportunity to verbalize what was happening and to see a psychologist or psychiatrist. If they don’t do this, in six months or 1-2 years they can develop various psychosomatic disorders. You can talk to any person, not necessarily a specialist, your friends, colleagues; it’s just important to get it out.”
